After the opening scene Protagonist Family moves in to Aunt Shae, who lives in a mansion, but the daughter is complaining, because she surely will not get a private room, and this citadel is not in a big city. They are moving in because of their obvious financial difficulties, which is illustrated by the ship-sized car, and the cross-motor carried on it.
The family is of course disfuntional: Girl is bratty, Aunt is (ex-)alcoholic, Father is horney, while Mommy is frigid.
Around 15 minutes it is finaly established, the city is Amityville, and almost after 30 that they moved in to The House. But not THAT House, but still The House. The first Weird Thing happens around the 20 minutes mark, where some industrial cleaning fluid gets sucked to the wrong place - might be an accident. This turns out to be reminiscent to The Case of The House, where someone definitely not DeFeo poured acid on his babysitter, then kille the entire family. Then some creepey girl shows up, stating some Rachel is living in the house too.
We spend considerable time with Girl meeting some local youngsters, and immediately getting entangled into a love-triangle. She also sees some ghost of an old man with an axe, who I don't know is, but she states around the halfway mark he misteriously disappeared, in 2004, and that means he died in The House. I could forgive this as summary of her research, but not the music box, what we saw her finding, but not that it ever worked!
Auntie acts weird, but otherwise pretty much nothing happens for a while, then around 1 hour runtime there happens to be a local witch-or-something. Creates a "safe place", then she is dead. Independently from this, Daughter finds out, the property-manager, Delilah McAlaister is into something shady. Her natural respons to this is to break in to the lady, armed with her trusted crossbow. She finds out, anybody moving in The House will be "missing" at most in 3 months. Too bad we have no idea how long this family is in The House. Then Boyfriend tells Daughter the kid's family who poured acid around was into Black Magic, wanned Eternal Life, and along the way managed to open a Portal To Hell, maybe.
then tweens are doing slasher-stuff like another Scream movie. The peak is, when Daughter shoots Possessed Aunt in the head with a crystal.
