Theatrical Films Canon[]

The films that go in this group are based on the events of the Lutz and/or the DeFeo. The films in these cases had theatrical releases.

  • Amityville II: The Possession - This is a prequel to the base film in the canon. It follows the story of the DeFeo murders, though they renamed the family to Montelli.

Additional Theatrical Continuations[]

Following as sequels directly to films above. The films in these cases had theatrical releases, but are not based on Lutz or DeFeo, but continue after the events. While departures, they usually are treated in the canon.

  • Amityville 3-D - The film is loosely based on events after the 1979 film. A character named "John Baxter" is based on Stephen Kaplan who was trying to prove the Lutz story was a hoax.
  • Amityville: The Awakening - The film treats the 1979 and 2005 as fiction of sorts as it is based in a "real world" outside of the continuity of the series. Set in modern times, it does treat the actual accounts of the Lutz and the DeFeo murders as canon.
  • The Amityville Dawn - Otherwise known as "The Dawn", is a prequel to the 2005 remake, expands on the lore of Father Jeremiah.

Cursed Items Films Canon[]

This canon starts off with the 1979 film and goes though all films to Amityville Dollhouse. While the films didn't follow all continuity with each other, they somewhat still stay apart in plot enough to build on each other.

The Conjuring Universe[]

Not tied to Amityville franchise, however references the Ed and Lorraine Warren accounts of the Amityville investigation. Film "The Conjuring 2" does a reenact the [[|DeFeo Murders (Real Life)|DeFeo Murders]].

  • The Conjuring 2

Mockbusters Films[]

This films are made loosely based in a small part to Lutz or DeFeo stories, but are really be a different story and will not aim to work with either stories. The aim of the film is to get the works watched by fans of the Amityville Horror series. This doesn't necessarily mean the film is bad.

Films with Misleading Titles[]

These films not intended to be based on Amityville Horror at all, and are in title only related. The also might be the "Amityville" city/town name drop in the film. They never mention to house or events.
