The Amityville Murders is a horror movie that was released on October 9th 2018, and is based on the events leading up to the infamous murders of the Defeo Family. Previously, Amityville II: The Possession had tackled the same events.

Summary[]

On the night of November 13, 1974, Ronald DeFeo, Jr. took a high-powered rifle and murdered his entire family as they slept. At his trial, DeFeo claimed that "voices" in the house commanded him to kill. This is their story. The movie features what it was like to live at 112 Ocean Avenue. It's revealed that Butch was rejected from Syracuse. On Halloween night Butch is accused to have stolen thousands of dollars in cash from Ronald Defeo, Sr. Shorlty after Ronald Defeo becomes possessed as things escalate. One night Butch grabs one of his fathers rifles after overhearing a argument and Butch points the gun towards his fathers head but the gun does not fire. On November 13th, Dawn Defeo goes to her Grandma Nona's house on the night of the murders where she learns the dark past of the house, meanwhile at the Defeo house Butch is having visions of his family members all dead at dinner and attacks his father and tries to jump out of his window after barricading the door shut. Despite Nona's warnings to Dawn she heads back to the house only to find her parents and siblings all dead except for her older brother Ronald who ends up shooting her. Following is clips of the actual crime scene, and the funeral of the slayed members. and that Shaggy their dog who was barking during the murders is taken out of the house and was later taken in by a friend of the family, Ronald Defeo despite pleading not guilty due to insanity is found guilty and is currently serving 6 consecutive life terms for each of his victims. In a epilogue scene that takes place 13 months in December 1975, Kathy and George Lutz being shown the house by a real estate agent, and it states they fled after only living at the house for only 28 days after claiming to be terrorized by supernatural spirits.
