The Naming Policy is a policy that covers naming of articles permitted here. The policy was put in place to avoid edit warring.

Film canons[]

No major film directly considers itself a sequel to the degree that names and or actors are reused. So each film is to itself it's own canon. We're leave the debates about where things might fit to discussions.

Titles for articles of this nature would be like if characters (different canons) exist, use the year of release of the film they are based on. Examples:

  • George Lutz (1979)
  • George Lutz (2005)

If there is a instance of two films released in the same year having the same character, then go by film title in addition to year.

Known Exceptions[]

Real Names/Overview[]

Real life people are to be covered by "(Real Life)" at the end of their names. This avoids conflict in future articles. The Real Life articles should use the most well known full name. They also note all fictional versions.

Overview articles are for subjects in the overall series that are not about real people.

Film titles[]

For titles, the on screen title (shown at the start of the film) is the preferred name choice. The films have seen many releases and renaming, which can be listed in the aka fields of the infoboxes. In some cases with rare films or ones that do not use titles in film, a promo trailer may be used instead.

Films with Misleading Titles[]

In cases with films that sometimes use Amityville related misleading names, it'd be better to go by that name instead of the common or in film name. Packaging art or trailer screen cap would work.
